DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the next regularly scheduled gathering of Humanists West on Sunday 26 July at noon at The Ardilaun Hotel in Galway. Newcomers and visitors are welcome. \nWe plan to meet in the Garden Room\, to the right of the reception desk\, but if that space is preempted check for us just outside the Garden Room near the fireplace\, or in the lobby. \nThe topic will be “Meditation & Well Being”. Des McGuire will share his experiences with meditation’s benefits to self and humanity. We are lucky that he will also lead us in a meditation. SUMMARY:Tom White Memorial Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Tom White (1949-2023) described himself as “working for the biggest and best cause of all–the integrity\, freedom\, and unity of the human race.”  He was an active and beloved member of three Humanist groups. The Tom White Memorial Lecture is an annual event that celebrates his life and brings together these three groups–Humanists West\, Westport Humanists\, and North-West Humanists. \nThe 2026 event will be hosted by the North-West Humanists in Sligo. Brian Whiteside will be the main speaker on the topic of Separating Church and State: The Ongoing Challenge. \nMore details will be posted as they are available.
